Full Review - A Fire That Burns by Kirsty-Anne Still

The Blurb:

“Six years on and you’re still as in love with me as you were when you left. You never stopped loving me, you never could. You didn’t leave because you didn’t love me.”

After running from the truth for six years of her life, Austin Pearson decides it’s time to come home to life in Point Arena. What she finds is broken relationships and broken hearts and the same love that consumed her years ago.

When confronted with the love of her life, Austin has to decide between giving in, giving up or hiding all over again.

Will Tyler Armstrong be enough to crack the secrets that drove the woman he loved away when they were nineteen or are they destined to love other people? What happens when he finds himself living everyday with Austin and realising that feelings he thought had diminished flame up and take a hold of his life? What happens when fires burn brighter than ever and the secrets of the past come tumbling out?

Is love enough to get them through what life has in store for them?

My Review:

ARC copy of the book had been sent to me by the author in exchange for an honest review.

So, I finally got my hands on a full copy of this book and what can I say?

Well here's the original review based on the first 10 chapters........

First things first... I know that Kirsty is worried about this review.  I know this as I have the privilege of being friends on Facebook with this very talented young lady and she is also a fellow admin on a fanfiction group on the same site.  I also know that she doubts her ability..... well she shouldn't.

From the first paragraph I was hooked and wanted to read more.

So many questions ran through my mind reading the first chapter;

Why did Austin leave?

Does Tyler really love his fiancee?

Tasha is a bitch (not a question but statement of fact).

I loved the flashback to before she ran, I felt the love between the two main characters and it only added to sense of both Austin and Tyler's pain as the story moved a long.

'He was nineteen and hopelessly in love with the most perfect girl ever and he wanted this perfect for her.'

For Tyler, it was the pain of seeing his first love who had abandoned him all those years ago.  For Austin, it was the pain of trying to contend with the love of her life moving on with another woman.

'The boy is pretty much in love with the wrong girl.' (or is he............ strokes imaginary beard.)

It was heartbreaking to read about how Austin was trying to, once again, find her place in a town and amongst people who had moved on (but had not forgiven or indeed forgotten) in her six year absence.

'I think it's best you leave, Austin, and let us have a family discussion.' - OUCH!

Overall, I loved these first few chapters and i'm really looking forward to reading the whole book; A book which, incidentally, is out on my birthday (28th June 2013) and which is also Kirsty's mum's birthday too! (so if anyone wants to treat me, hint hint...)

As i've said before, Kirsty is a very talented author and I truly feel that she has a great future ahead of her.

My only problem?  No Cowboys or Rockstars in it...... yet. (Kirsty understands!)

Oh and did I mention that Natasha is a B.I.T.C.H???

My rating?  Based on what i've seen so..... far 5 out of 5.

I stick by the five out of five rating!

I really enjoyed this....it's an original, sometimes heartbreaking story and I expected nothing less from the young Miss Still.

At times, I found certain characters frustrating (I wanted to slap Tyler at times).

I also added Austin's mum to the bitch list as she was horrible for the majority of the story.  She slightly redeemed herself in the end in my world......slightly.  If I were Austin, I wouldn't have been so forgiving but hey I'm a Cancerian and we tend to hold a grudge.

The ending perfectly sets up the next book and I could imagine Kirsty sitting at her computer stroking an imaginary beard, laughing manically!

Oh and did I mention that Nastasha was bitch?  I did????  Well she's an even bigger one later on..........

I look forward to the next one Miss Still!
My rating? 5 out of 5.

Blog Tour: Rock My World (Black Falcon 2.5) by Michelle Valentine - The Review

The Blurb:

*A Novella in the New York Times and USA Today best-selling Black Falcon series*

After Aubrey Jenson is wrongly dismissed from her job at Center Stage Marketing, she seeks legal advice from her father, The Judge, to see what grounds she has to get her position reinstated. Her surprise visit to her family doesn’t go as smoothly as she hopes when she brings home her new boyfriend, Zach, Black Falcon’s lead guitarist. She soon discovers that father doesn’t always know best when it comes to matters of the heart.

When Zach meets Aubrey’s family, he’s immediately faced with his deepest fear: The love he so desperately wants, he doesn’t deserve. The Judge makes no attempt to hide his disdain for Zach, and will stop at nothing to keep him away from his daughter. But an unexpected twist turns everyone’s plans upside down and no one’s world will ever be the same.

Outside forces attempting to pull them apart are strong and it’s going to take every bit of Zach and Aubrey’s love for one another to withstand the fall-out. Soon, they discover making love last is harder than finding it to begin with and sometimes you pay the ultimate price for true love.

***Note from author: This novella follows Riff and Aubrey's story from ROCK MY BED.***

My Review!

Dear Michelle,

You know how much I love the Black Falcon series but you're going to have to stop me falling deeper in love with them!  This novella was no exception.

Riff is still officially my favourite Falcon.

Thank you for writing this series, I think i've read and re-read them more times than I care to mention.

Sara xx

To sum it up in three words;

I LOVED IT!

A continuation from the Riff and Aubrey Novel, Rock My Bed, we get to see a bit more of this loved up pair and we meet Aubrey's family including; The Judge, Connie and the intriguing Gabe.

This had it all...angst, betrayal, heartache, loss, drama, true love and hot hot sex.

We get to see a lot of Zach the man but Riff does make an appearance, and like Aubrey I much prefer Zach.  He is one of those flawed characters, like the erstwhile Mr Grey, who does not believe that they are deserving of love; when all you want to do, as a reader, is to give him a hug and stroke his Mohawk.....  (Maybe that's just me.)

One thing I would like to see (and I hope it makes and appearance in the next book) is Riff & Aubrey's visit to the Justice of the Peace and the press reaction to Black Falcon's biggest players (Noel included) settling down but I digress.

In conclusion;

If you love the Black Falcon books then this is a must read.

And if you haven't read them yet, where the hell have you been??  Go buy now!!

Oh and the bonus chapter.........made me smile like a cheshire cat! I shall break a habit of a lifetime and NOT spoil it for you but needless to say it was a HEA for Riff/Aubrey and Noel/Lane.

I can not wait for Rock the Beat!

My Rating? 5 out of 5

Teaser Number 3 for My Unexpected Forever

I'm loving these little teasers.........

I turn off the water and pull the shower curtain back. I step out onto Quinn’s white mat that turns red when it’s wet. It makes it look like you’re bleeding. He likes it. Thinks it’s funny to scare people with. I put my towel over my head and rub my hands back and forth to dry my hair.
When the door swings open, I peek through the small opening of my towel. Katelyn is staring back at me, her mouth dropping open as her eyes travel down my very wet and naked body.
“Oh fuck,” she says covering her mouth, but not her eyes. She’s totally checking me out and I’d be an idiot to say it’s not turning me on. I take my time as I step into my sweatpants that no longer tie and hang low on my waist. Yeah, I know what I’m doing. It’s time to play dirty.
“Um…” I start laughing.
“I’m sorry…” Katelyn shakes her head, breaking eye contact with me. “I spilled my coffee and Quinn said you were in the shower-- ”
“So you just had to come in and see for yourself?”
“No… um… the uh… upstairs.”
I step forward, pulling her slightly so I can shut the door and lock it. I turn up the volume on my mp3 player so the kids can’t hear us talk. “My shower is being remodeled so I had to use Quinn’s.”
“Makes sense.”
“Why didn’t you run out of here when you saw me?” I ask just loud enough for her to hear me.
“I don’t know,” she whispers, her eyes penetrating into mine. I can’t take it anymore. I lean back against the counter and pull her between my legs.
