Dangerous to Know and Love by Jane Harvey-Berrick

The Blurb
:Nineteen year old Daniel Colton is the guy all the girls want to date, and the man all the guys want to be. Moody, with an explosive temper, closed off and sullen, he’s also beautiful, tatted in delicious ways, with a pierced eyebrow and spiky black hair. It’s rumoured he has piercings in other places, too. Is he really mad, bad and dangerous to know?

Daniel lives with his older brother, Zef, and their home is party central. You want drugs, a good time, liquor, no questions asked? Colton’s is the place to go.

When Daniel and good girl Lisanne Maclaine have to work on together on assignment, Lisanne finds there’s a lot more to the college’s bad boy than his reputation. He’s intelligent and funny and good company. And then she discovers his secret, why he’s so closed off to everyone, and determined to keep people at arms’ length. But being his secret-keeper is harder than she ever dreamed.

Recommended for readers 18+ due to sexual references and sex scenes, some coarse language, drug references and drug use.

My Review:

I have to admit that when I first started reading this book, I was reminded of Beautiful Disaster.  College setting; Hot, tattooed, man-whore bad boy who rides a Harley, troubled but intelligent meets virgin girl who doesn't think she's pretty enough....... Read on and discover a truly stunning story of love overcoming the odds, of patience, heartbreak and healing.

I loved Daniel!  He was so gorgeous, sweet and he worked so hard to cover his secret disability and Lisanne...... I instantly liked her!

Jane is an incredibly talented writer and I, for one, am in awe of her talent. (Plus she writes possibly the funniest fanfiction story ever; Fifty Shades of Taylor - Go check it out)

My rating: 5 out of 5.

Tentative release date is the 26th August 2013!

The Blurb:

On the outside, Liberty Davis appeared to have it all…a loving family, a tight knit circle of friends, and a bright future ahead of her. Everything was perfect. That is until her brother tragically took his own life, turning her whole world upside down.

Left to pick up the pieces of her broken family, Liberty is faced with focusing all of her attention on helping her parents cope with the loss of their son, while putting her own life on the back burner. But what no one seems to realize is that she is just as broken inside.

Now, four years later, twenty year old Liberty is taking back the reins of her life. She leaves behind everything she’s ever known, hoping to make a fresh start…one where she isn’t faced with the constant reminder that her brother is nothing more than faded memory. What she didn’t expect to find along the way was Shayne.

Tall, dark and tattooed, Shayne Thompson has developed quite a reputation for being a player. Despite everyone’s negative perception, Liberty still finds herself drawn to him. When she learns that Shayne knows all too well what it feels like to lose someone you love, she finds that they have a lot more in common than just a physical attraction.

When Liberty discovers a secret from Shayne’s past that threatens to tear them apart, she begins to question everything she’s ever felt for him. Will Liberty choose to follow her heart or will she give up the one person who finally made her feel whole again?

About Maureen:

Maureen Mayer was born, raised and currently resides in Buffalo, NY with her loving and supportive family and boyfriend of 8+ years. She’s always had a love for the outdoors, and when the city isn’t buried under snow, she can be found hiking, fishing, camping or lying on the beach. She’s a sucker for off-color humor, but holds a sweet spot for sick and twisted horror films.

Thanks to authors like J. K. Rawling, Stephanie Meyer and E. L. James, Maureen has rediscovered her love for reading. When she’s not writing, you can find her curled up in bed with her kindle, diving into a steamy romance novel. She is currently working on her first new adult novel and hopes to self-publish it late this summer.

Cover Reveal!! Casted by Sonya Loveday

First time author, Sonya Loveday, has been awesome enough to share her first ever cover reveal for her new book 'Casted' with us at Confessions.

I don't think I have ever seen such a stunning cover...seriously this is beautiful!!!

The tentative release date for this book is 7th June 2013

The Blurb:
“My mind absorbed everything in the spell book I clutched tightly to me. Pages ruffled inside of my head, urging me to remember things and then to forget them. Voices chanted with tempo rising at the breaking points of pain until the book vanished and words to an ancient spell scribed across my arms. Each stroke brought blood to the surface, imprinting words I could not read; words that would forever change who I was.”
Jade had spent the majority of her life running from the Triad. The Triad, are a powerful group, who would stop at nothing to obtain Jade and the missing spell book for leader, Lorenzo’s, nefarious plans. And now that she has absorbed the highly coveted magic contained inside the missing book, there is nowhere left for her to hide.
With the help of her friends, Jade steps out from the shadows and learns how to fight back. But no one is prepared for Elinor-the woman bound inside of the book that’s trapped in Jade’s mind. Now she not only needs to protect herself from the Triad, but from what’s hiding inside her mind as well.
Jade never expected the answer to it all would revolve around love.
Edge is dark, mysterious, and a sworn member of the Triad. He also hides a secret past that threatens the thin line he walks between good and evil. Lives are at stake when Jade and Edge’s two worlds collide. Can Jade learn to trust him when he says he is her pre-ordained and vows to do everything he can to protect her? But more importantly, can she trust herself and the woman in her mind?

About the Author

Sonya Loveday, first and foremost is a reader, an avid one. It is of that love that brought her to the realization that this was the answer to the nagging persistent feeling that ‘there’s got to be something more’.
The dream came alive in 2009 when she purchased her laptop and began the tedious step of becoming a published author.
When she’s not reading, she’s writing. When she’s not writing, she’s reading. And when she’s not doing either of those things she’s sleeping, shuttling her children back and forth to school, letting the dogs and cats in and out of the house for the umpteenth time in the last hour and dreaming of a clean house.

A Fire That Burns by Kirsty-Anne Still

The Blurb:

“Six years on and you’re still as in love with me as you were when you left. You never stopped loving me, you never could. You didn’t leave because you didn’t love me.”

After running from the truth for six years of her life, Austin Pearson decides it’s time to come home to life in Point Arena. What she finds is broken relationships and broken hearts and the same love that consumed her years ago.

When confronted with the love of her life, Austin has to decide between giving in, giving up or hiding all over again.

Will Tyler Armstrong be enough to crack the secrets that drove the woman he loved away when they were nineteen or are they destined to love other people? What happens when he finds himself living everyday with Austin and realising that feelings he thought had diminished flame up and take a hold of his life? What happens when fires burn brighter than ever and the secrets of the past come tumbling out?

Is love enough to get them through what life has in store for them?

My Review:

This review is based on the first 10 chapters of the book that had been sent to me by the author in exchange for an honest review.

First things first... I know that Kirsty is worried about this review.  I know this as I have the privilege of being friends on Facebook with this very talented young lady and she is also a fellow admin on a fanfiction group on the same site.  I also know that she doubts her ability..... well she shouldn't.

From the first paragraph I was hooked and wanted to read more.

So many questions ran through my mind reading the first chapter;

Why did Austin leave?

Does Tyler really love his fiancee?

Tasha is a bitch (not a question but statement of fact).

I loved the flashback to before she ran, I felt the love between the two main characters and it only added to sense of both Austin and Tyler's pain as the story moved a long.

'He was nineteen and hopelessly in love with the most perfect girl ever and he wanted this perfect for her.'

For Tyler, it was the pain of seeing his first love who had abandoned him all those years ago.  For Austin, it was the pain of trying to contend with the love of her life moving on with another woman.

'The boy is pretty much in love with the wrong girl.' (or is he............ strokes imaginary beard.)

It was heartbreaking to read about how Austin was trying to, once again, find her place in a town and amongst people who had moved on (but had not forgiven or indeed forgotten) in her six year absence.

'I think it's best you leave, Austin, and let us have a family discussion.' - OUCH!

Overall, I loved these first few chapters and i'm really looking forward to reading the whole book; A book which, incidentally, is out on my birthday (28th June 2013) and which is also Kirsty's mum's birthday too! (so if anyone wants to treat me, hint hint...)

As i've said before, Kirsty is a very talented author and I truly feel that she has a great future ahead of her.

My only problem?  No Cowboys or Rockstars in it...... yet. (Kirsty understands!)

Oh and did I mention that Natasha is a B.I.T.C.H???

My rating?  Based on what i've seen so..... far 5 out of 5.

Arouse (A Spiral Bliss Novel) By Nina Lane

The Blurb:

One day I'm going to touch you in a thousand different ways and show you how to touch me," he said.

And he did.

Struggling with a tormented past, undergraduate Olivia Winter once led a practical but isolated life. Then she met Professor Dean West, a brilliant scholar of medieval history who melted Liv's inhibitions and taught her the meaning of both love and erotic pleasure. But after three years of a blissful, lusty marriage, Liv and Dean now face a crisis that threatens everything they believe about each other. And when dark secrets and temptations rise to the surface, the fallout might break them apart forever.

My Review:

One word.... WOW!

I felt like a voyeur slowly watching this happy marriage disintegrate through secrets and misunderstanding.  It really hit a raw nerve with me, I have had the same 'baby' rows with hubby and spent a lot of the time thinking that this could be 'us',  a happily married couple destroying what they have....(thankfully, we are well past that stage and I'm happy to report still extremely happily married!).

Olivia and Deans pain felt real and raw.

This book had me hooked from the very beginning. The two main characters were strong, the writing excellent, the story so believable and well told.  I spent a lot of the time wanting shout at the hotness that was Dean to get his act together.  How could he have kept a secret like that from the lovely Olivia???

I am genuinely looking forward to the next instalment.

This book is a must read!

My rating? 5 out of 5
